The National
Agriculture Advisory Services (NAADS) is one of the statutory semi-autonomous
bodies in the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF);
established in 2001 by an Act of Parliament (NAADS Act 2001) to specifically
facilitate efficient and effective delivery of agricultural advisory services
for enhanced production and productivity.

Job Summary: The Assistant Value Chain Development officer
supports the provision of agro-processing technologies as well as farm
development activities involving on farm agricultural mechanization
technologies.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support in identification and development of
technologies for intervention areas including value addition,
mechanization, water for agricultural production and agricultural
infrastructure - Implement initiatives to promote appropriate post-harvest and value
addition technologies; - Provide technical support in promotion of appropriate on-farm
mechanization technologies - Implement initiatives to promote appropriate farm and agro
industrialization infrastructure including establishment of grain
warehouses, silos, green houses, livestock and poultry structures - Promote appropriate water for agricultural production practices and
technologies in the area of irrigation and water harvesting; - Provide technical support in agribusiness development services
- Participates in procurement, evaluation and contract management for
strategic interventions under agribusiness and value chain development - Providing technological support in provision of knowledge and skills
to farmers and farmer groups on post-harvest practices and quality
assurance systems of the various enterprises; and - Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the National Agricultural Advisory Services
(NAADS) Assistant Value Chain Development job placement must hold a
Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural engineering, Mechanical Engineering or
its equivalent. - A Postgraduate qualification in Food or Agricultural Processing
Technology is required. - At least three years’ relevant experience in the in agricultural
value chain development with emphasis in agricultural processing,
mechanization and water for agricultural production - Analytical skills
- Good computer skills
- Demonstrable experience and excellent skills in report writing
- Ability to communicate well in English, both verbal and written
- Ability to communicate in a courteous and professional manner.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to work in a team and independently.
