for their client, an integrated professional consultancy specializing in
valuation surveying, cost & project management, and environmental
management.
Job Summary:  The Accountant will complete payments and
control expenses by receiving payments, plus processing, verifying and
reconciling invoices. The incumbent will also highlight the day-to-day
management of all payment cycle activities in a timely and efficient manner.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling
    and analyzing account information
  • Documents financial transactions by entering account information
  • Keeping  track  of 
    all  payments  and 
    expenditures,  including  payroll, 
    purchase orders, invoices, statements, etc.
  • Reconciling processed work by verifying entries and comparing system
    reports to balances
  • Maintaining historical records
  • Paying employees by verifying expense reports and preparing pay
    checks
  • Paying vendors by scheduling pay checks and ensuring payment is
    received for outstanding credit
  • Generally responding to all vendor enquiries regarding finance
  • Preparing analyses of accounts and producing monthly reports
  • Continuing to improve the payment process
  • Summarizes current financial status by collecting information
  • Preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other
    reports
  • Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analysing account
    information
  • Secures financial information by completing data base backups
  • Maintains financial security by following internal controls
  • Prepares payments by verifying documentation, and requesting
    disbursements.
  • Prepares  special  financial  reports 
    by  collecting,  analysing,  and 
    summarizing account information and trends
  • Maintains  customer  confidence  and 
    protects  operations  by 
    keeping  financial
    information confidential
  • Perform other duties as required by the employer from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in appropriate field of
    study or equivalent work experience in a commercial environment and/or the
    government sector.
  • Three years’ experience as an Accountant or Accounts Payable
  • Intermediate understanding of accounting and reporting standards
  • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles
  • Corporate Finance
  • Experience with creating financial statements
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end
    close process
  • Excellent accounting software user (Quickbooks) and administration
    skills
  • Good reporting skills
  • Deadline-Oriented
  • General Math Skills and aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and
    prioritize work
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Problem Analysis and Problem-Solving Skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skills in a fast-paced
    environment
  • A creative mind with an ability to suggest improvements
  • Good inter-personal skills
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
