Job Summary: The Agricultural Loans Officer will grow and
maintain a quality portfolio of the Agri customer base through the promotion of
the bank’s savings and lending products in strict compliance with laid down
risk management controls and credit procedures while providing exceptional
customer experience.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Recruit new Agri customers active in processing, production and/or
trade such as (farmers, farmer groups/associations/cooperatives, traders,
processors) for business growth and profitability. - Identify Agri business clients’ needs and offer solutions for
customer satisfaction. - Work with the Branch Manager and Senior Manager – Agriculture &
Informal to plan and coordinate the sales activities scheduled for the
specified period. - Sensitise farmers to organise themselves in legally registered
groups and stimulate savings. Conduct regular face-to-face customer
visits, site visits, recognition initiatives and prepare reports in the
prescribed manner. - Increase agri business penetration for the customers under
management by reviewing their portfolio to determine potential cross sells
and proactively recommend new products to customers for business growth.
Initiate and analyse credit applications for new and existing agri
business customers by completing the documentation with customers,
completing the required financial analysis and submitting applications to
credit for approval to meet the set agreed timelines. - Receive security documents for Agri-loan customers ensuring that
they meet bank standards and any specific requirements depending on the
facilities offered to the customer. Follow up on all approved
agri-business loans and ensure that customer information is correctly
captured in the system i.e. standing orders, interest rates, repayment
schedules, limits, review and expiry dates - Receive and verify customer documents for account opening,
facilities and other customer instructions according to the laid down
procedures. - Timely notification of customers in regards to their loan
approvals/declines of credit facilities and advise alternative options in
case of a decline for customer satisfaction. - Monitor the agri business portfolio and identify early warning
signals to ensure the NPA/PAR ar within the acceptable levels. - Make calls to clients with loans in arrears to support timely
collection and generate reports to ensure NPA/PAR are within the
acceptable levels. - Onboard new customers on quick banking and inform customers of other
appropriate service channels. - Comply with KYC, AML & suspicious transactions reporting and
ensure that all documentation and transactions are in line with local and
regulatory anti-money laundering and KYC requirements.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the DFCU Bank Agricultural Loans Officer job
placement must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics or
Agribusiness related course - Two years working experience in a financial institution in a sales
role - Holder of a valid driving license class A.
- Demonstrated awareness of the agriculture sector with regards to
factors like farm management, government policies and projects, trends in
the market etc. - Good understanding of the seasonal trends or cycles and their
overall effect on various crops - Financial analysis and credit assessment skills are desirable
- High level of speed and accuracy in order to exceed customer
expectations. - Excellent sales/networking and relationship management skills
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Good understanding of credit principles and guidelines
- Excellent analytical skills
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills required.
- Motivated, flexible and ready to work under pressure
- Able to convey factual information clearly.
