Job Summary:    The Procurement and Logistics Officer will
support the existing structure in the pro-log office to ensure efficient and
effective procurement, logistics and IT management of the Yumbe field office,
with a focus on the management of the procurement and logistics needs of the
UNHCR project portfolio. Ensuring the approved procedure and guidelines are
followed in the process.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Support the programme with more focus on the UNHCR project to
    effectively and efficiently carry out and manage the procurement and
    logistics needs.
  • Support the projects staff to prepare procurement plans
  • Audit all requisitions and provide feedback to requesters for
    accuracy of specifications, sign off authority and progress status.
  • Ensure the purchasing and tendering processes are adhered to while
    collaboratively working with other departments by providing all relevant
    information regarding changes in materials, major price movements,
    individual supply situations among others
  • Update and maintain a list of vendors who are willing and capable of
    providing both high quality products and a competitive price.
  • Fleet management and drivers’ supervision
  • Train assistants and other staff in procurement and logistics
    management based on their capacity gaps with emphasis on their role in the
    procurement process.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the DanChurchAid (DCA) Procurement and
    Logistics Officer job placement must hold a B.Sc. in procurement and
    logistics or other relevant discipline
  • Five years of experience working with procurement and logistics in direct
    implementation of humanitarian actions
  • Proven capacity to prioritize tasks, plan and organize your own
    efforts to meet objectives and deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Previous experience with other local and international NGOs
  • Possess a riding permit
  • Knowledge of local languages would be an added advantage
