Marketing Officer
(UTB) is a statutory organization established by Uganda Tourism Board Statute
of 1994 and reconstituted in the Tourism Act 2008. Its objectives are:
- To promote and contribute to the
Development of Tourism sector both within and outside of Uganda. - To coordinate with the Ministry
responsible for Tourism and the private sector in the implementation of
the National Tourism policy.
Conferences and Events (MICE) will develop, implement, track and optimize
Uganda’s Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events (MICE) tourism strategy,
marketing campaigns including its strategic direction and performance
measurement.
- Responsible for high-level contact between public sector
institutions, private sector stakeholders. - Building partnerships with private sector tourism stakeholders and
embraces key strategic initiatives that will help drive bidding and sales
activities towards achieving MICE tourism targets. - Develops and implements an aggressive pro-active bidding agenda.
- Develops a key strategic initiative that creates and delivers a
potent internationally recognized MICE destination image / brand for
Uganda, and the communication of that brand supported with appropriate
collateral for marketing and sales promotion. - Plays an important role in growing and supporting existing MICE
product, providing leadership in the development of new products and
services; identifying destination industry sector strengths and creating
new MICE business opportunities. - Targeting high-yielding source markets through sales tactics
Creating and communicating a brand of distinction for Uganda’s MICE. - Participate in client site inspection visits and familiarization
tours. - Performs any other duties assigned by the superiors from time to
time.
- The applicant must hold an Honors bachelor’s degree in Marketing,
Communication, Management, Tourism, OR Leisure/ Hotel and Hospitality
Management or the equivalent. - A Master’s degree in preferably Marketing, or any of the above
fields - He/she should be a Ugandan with at least three years’ experience as
a MICE marketing executive of a busy and successful and reputable
organization.
- Interest and understanding of the tourism and marketing fields.
- Self-starter, results driven and commercially aware.
- Innovative and creative.
