is a manpower management solutions firm operating in the East African Region in
the countries of Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda and South Sudan. They are recruiting for
a valuable client, a 5 Star hotel.
Job Summary:   The Human Resources Manager will initiate,
develop and monitor the implementation of Human Resources  Systems, policies and procedures that fosters
the Hotel ‘s performance and staff productivity in line with the HR mission and
Employment Act Uganda.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Provide recruitment, selection and placement services according to
    hotel’s human resource needs in line with the recruitment guidelines.
  • Initiate, develop, review, update and monitor the implementation of
    the Hotels Human Resources Policies and procedures in line with the
    Employment Act of Uganda and Trade Union Bargaining Agreement.
  • Develop and write Human Resources budget in line with the Hotel’s
    Finance policies and procedures
  • Maintain and update accessible Human resources information system
    (HRIS) in line with the organization’s objectives
  • Plan, develop, and implement a performance management system, and
    coordinate performance reviews in line with the Human Resources Manual.
  • Design and implement an exit and separation strategy, for the Hotel
    in line with the Human Resources Manual.
  • Develop and implement capacity building strategies and succession
    plans in line with departmental needs and Human resources manual.
  • Provide continuous guidance, assessment, coaching, and counselling
    to staff as may be required, in line with the Human resources manual.
  • Design and monitor the implementation of employee relations, Health
    and safety and welfare in line with the Organization’s policies.
  • Identify Human resources risks for the Hotel and design mitigation
    measures for each of the risks identified i.e. HIV/AIDS in workplace,
    alcoholism, counter productive work behaviours and staff misery in line with
    HR Manual.
  • Carry out duty management and monitor the operations of the entire
    Hotel in line the Hotel Standards.
  • Conduct departmental meetings to keep all members equipped with the
    day today running of the department and attend management meetings in line
    with set standards.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Human resource
    management, a business-related field or Social Sciences from a reputable
  • Post graduate diploma in Human Resource Management an added
  • Six years of professional experience in Human Resource Management,
    within a competitive business environment.
  • At least 2 years’ experience leading a team in a hotel environment
  • Intermediate skills in MS Office packages especially Word, Excel and
  • Knowledge of ERP an added advantage
  • Good understanding of the HR policies, procedures and ability to
    interpret them to employees.
  • Good knowledge of the Employment laws of the Republic of Uganda.
  • Excellent interpersonal, planning, presentation and organizational
  • Excellent communication skills both written, oral and be able to
    interact with employees at all levels.
  • Experience in developing and sustaining effective teamwork. 
  • High level of integrity and ethical standards.
