Job Summary: The
Program Officer SBCC will ensure that the key deliverables for the project and
consultancy are effectively and efficiently met by working closely with the US
consultant and Save the Children Country field based teams. Save the Children
US has secured a small amount of funding to develop ‘Commitments’ a BCC
strategy to engage teachers around gender norms and their behaviour in the
classroom. The strategy completes a companion volume to Choices, Voices and
Promises, SC US’ suite of tools for gender norms change. SC plans to expand
this pilot if possible to other countries operating the sponsorship program.
The SC Basic Education team is committed to introduce a BCC approach to its
education work, and this is a key opportunity to learn and develop the skills
necessary. Uganda has been selected as the country to develop and pilot the
approach.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicants for the Save the Children Program Officer SBCC job
placement must hold a Degree in education, Development Studies, Social
Sciences, Community development or related field - Research or M&E skills offer an added advantage
- Two years of progressive experience in research or BCC programming
and must possess good computer knowledge and skills especially with social
media and websites setup. - Ability to speak the local language Luganda fluently is another
added advantage - Ability to ride a motorcycle (Honda XL 125) is also an added
advantage. - Desirable
- Demonstrable financial, planning and budget management skills a
MUST. - Demonstrated knowledge of international and local policies and
frameworks relating to their thematic area is a must. - Excellent planning, coordination and reporting skills, with the
ability to organize a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse
tasks and responsibilities - Experience of working with local partners and District Local
Government in community mobilisation and partnerships.
