About US:
Uganda Railways
Corporation (URC) is a body corporate established under an Act of Parliament to
construct, operate and maintain railway, marine and road services both inside
and outside Uganda for the carriage of passengers and goods. As a result of
privatisation of operations, the mandate of URC changed from that of an
operator to that of asset holder, concession monitor and advisor on railway
technical matters.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Perform duties related to land surveying for identifying and mapping
    property boundaries.
  • Conduct records management activities and perform historical and
    legal land ownership research and address cadastral issues.
  • Monitor and inspect land surveying project contracts.
  • Support field measurement and layouts with a surveying bias. Use a
    variety of modem surveying equipment, manual recording, computer-aided
    drafting programs and databases to collect and record data
  • Read, utilize and interpret design drawings, topographic maps, and
    familiarise with CAD computer applications.
  • Perform conduct in-house surveys and mapping projects.
  • Support the Real Estate Product Line process and in-house design
    group.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the Uganda Railways Corporation (URC) Land
    Surveyor job placement should possess a Bachelor of Science in Land
    Surveying
  • A minimum of two years practical experience in related assignments.
  • Experience in surveying assignments, technical experience in
    measurement and research.
  • Measuring skills especially those related to elevation and angles as
    well as distances and must show high skills in paying attention to details
    to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Demonstrate Research skills.
  • Good communication and negotiation skills
  • Shows good leadership and supervisory abilities
  • Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble GPS, and GIS related
    software
  • High level of integrity
