Job Summary:  The Chief Finance & Operations Officer
will head our team in northern Uganda, where we work currently in two districts
(Kaabong and Kotido) with imminent expansion to Amudat and Moroto, in
partnership with Mercy Corps under the USAID-funded program APULOU. Other Whave
operations in the area are included in the scope of work, as and when they are
developed (none currently).
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance to Whave Karamoja
    policies and guidelines, and maintain their integration to Mercy Corp’s
    financial, operational and reporting requirements and associated USAID
    requirements
  • Work closely with the Whave programmatic, monitoring and finance
    team in Kampala, and integrate Whave’s work in Karamoja with its national
    work
  • Manage the work of the Whave Karamoja team and ensuring performance
    targets are understood, met and staff are working to an appropriate
    professional standard.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the Whave Chief Finance & Operations
    Officer job must hold a Degree level education, with preference for
    postgraduate education
  • At least five years’ experience in aid finance including experience
    of USAID grants compliance,
  • Excellent numeracy and literacy skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and management skills
  • Ability to meet targets and deadlines within context of aid projects
    in Africa.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft packages and relevant software and
    willingness to live in Kaabong and Moroto.
