• Responsible for all activities within the Subsurface Engineering
  Section.
• Responsible for the development and updating of inhouse dynamic
  models for fields under development and/or production
• Coordinates the evaluation of reservoir engineering aspects of Field
  Development Plans and Petroleum Reservoir Reports
• Responsible for ascertaining the quantity of petroleum produced by
  the licensees
• Responsible for in house development and analysis of field
  development concepts to aid in regulatory decision making.
• Steers the review and advises on the approval of technical proposals
  by licensees for recovery of petroleum
• Responsible for evaluation of production data to document and report
  on the quantity of petroleum produced by the licensees
• Guides the Authority on the required software tools for the
  Subsurface Engineering Section and ensures its proper maintenance
• Coordinates the preparation, documentation, review and submission of
  periodic progress reports to relevant internal and external stakeholders
• Plans and budgets for resource requirements in the business Unit and
  monitors the usage to ensure efficiency
• Manages performance of both the business unit and the staff under
  jurisdiction and implements initiatives that foster staff capacity
  building and career development
• Implements succession planning and any other staff related programs
  as introduced and approved in the organization.
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

• The applicant for the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU) Senior
  Subsurface Engineer job placement must hold a Master’s degree in either;
  Engineering, Physical Sciences, Petroleum Geosciences or Petroleum
  Geophysics from an internationally recognized University / institution.
• A Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in either; Engineering, Physical Sciences, Petroleum
  Geosciences or Petroleum Geophysics from an internationally recognized
  university / institution.
• At least five years of relevant working experience in the oil and
  gas industry, 3 of which should have been served at supervisory level in a
  reputable organization.
• Working experience within the upstream business covering reservoir, production
  engineering.
• Demonstrated experience working in a team in an
  organization/business unit/project with diverse professions.
• Good knowledge of the policies, laws, regulations and guidelines
  regarding petroleum development and production in Uganda.
• Membership to relevant professional organizations.
• Innovative and with a proven high level of integrity.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Proven track record of outstanding performance.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Possess good administrative and negotiation skills.
• Track record of training and mentoring others.
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Proficiency in relevant industry computer packages and software.
