• Contribute to the planning, budgeting and reporting role for the
  directorate
• Participate in the drafting of PAU’s Health, Safety and Environment
  Policy;
• Coordinate the review and documentation of advice on environment
  reports including project briefs, environment and social impact
  statements, environment audit reports and environment monitoring reports;
• Review company operations to ensure that environmental safeguards
  are integrated therein;
• Monitor and report on the compliance of licensees with all relevant
  environment legislation, standards, guidelines and international best
  practice;
• Ensure the Environment database is updated regularly;
• Ensure monthly environment reports are prepared and submitted;
• Coordinate PAU’s participation and/proposition for review of the
  legislation related to environment;
• Coordinate PAU’s participation in the formulation of quality control
  standards for the oil and gas sector;
• Coordinate the monitoring of waste management in the oil and gas
  sector;
• Monitor licensees to ensure they integrate Environment Management
  Systems in all their operations;
• Coordinate field inspections and monitoring of operations;
• Monitor the implementation of licensees Environmental Social
  Management, Monitoring Plans (ESMMPs) to ensure they are implemented in an
  effective manner.
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

• The applicant for the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU) Senior
  Environment Officer job placement must hold a Master’s degree in
  Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Natural Resource
  Management or any other related degree from an internationally recognized
  University / institution.
• A bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Engineering, Physical Sciences or
  related disciplines from an internationally recognized University /
  institution.
• At least five years of working experience in the oil and gas sector
  operations, with specific responsibility for Environment issues, 3 years
  of which should have been served at Supervisory level in a reputable
  Organization.
• A qualification in the oil and gas sector from an internationally
  recognized institution;
• Membership with nationally and internationally recognized
  professional bodies;
• Good understanding of International best practices and standards
  e.g. IFC, IPIECA, Equator principles;
• Proven ability to work independently and meet deadlines; and
• Good knowledge and understanding of the Ugandan environmental
  legislation, guidelines and standards.
• Innovative and with a proven high level of integrity.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Proven track record of outstanding performance.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Possess good administrative and negotiation skills.
• T rack record of training and mentoring others.
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Proficiency in the necessary computer packages.
