(JMS) is a Church founded private not-for-profit organization whose mission is
to supply medicines, medical equipment and related healthcare services, and
training of assured quality to the people of Uganda at affordable prices. It
was established in 1979 as a joint venture between the Uganda Catholic Medical
Bureau (UCMB) and the Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau (UPMB).
Financial Accountant will be responsible for receivables management, payables
management, management of statutory requirements, and preparing monthly
financial reports.
- Receivable’s management: Will be responsible for price reviews and
uploads, budget allocation upload and utilization reviews, generate budget
utilization/ accountability reports for submission to relevant stake
holders, and availing customers with statements regularly. - Payables Management: The financial accountant will be responsible
for the recognition of supplier invoices and processing payments. - Statutory requirement: The financial accountant will in liaison with
the tax accountant prepare and furnish tax returns to URA for VAT, WHT,
PAYE, LST and NSSF returns as per the requirements of the law and maintain
various documentation for future reference. - Regularly review the tax requirements in relation to JMS operations
and come up with tax planning mechanisms, ensure risk in this area is
minimised. - Management of personnel accounts i.e. the related advances and accountabilities
- Reporting: prepare monthly and quarterly reports including but not
limited to the statement of comprehensive income (P&L), statement of
financial position (Balance sheet), and analysing the financial trends in
terms costs, revenue, financial obligations, and predicting future
revenues and expenditures and advising management accordingly. - Budgeting and budget management: The financial accountant will be
responsible for monitoring the budgets and make forecast and advise
management accordingly - Banking and cash management, the financial accountant will assist in
banking the collections and carrying out bank reconciliations.
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting),
Business Administration (Accounting) or BSc (Finance and Accounting).
Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Master of Finance or
Masters qualification in a related field is desired. - Must have full relevant professional qualifications such as ACCA or
CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CIMA - ACCA or CPA membership
- A minimum of four years’ experience in a large and busy firm
preferably in a healthcare related field. - Practical experience in using computerized financial accounting
packages. - Analytical, forecasting and accounting skills
- Good numerical skills
- Dependable, honest and able to maintain confidentiality
- Good team player with strong interpersonal skills
- Well-developed oral, written (report writing) communication skills
- Self-motivated, able to prioritize work and follow up tasks and
issues to the end - Computer literacy i.e. proficiency in MS Office applications (Word,
Excel, Power Point, Email)
