environmentally sound crop nutrient technology and agribusiness expertise. IFDC
enables smallholder farmers in developing countries to increase agricultural
productivity, generate economic growth and practice environmental stewardship
by enhancing their ability to manage mineral and organic fertilizers
responsibly and participate profitability in input and output markets.
Job Summary:  The Business Innovation Specialist/Private
Sector Intervention Manager(s), based in Kampala (with frequent travel to the
field) will be responsible for the development and implementation of
partnerships with private sector actors at a national level. Ensuring that they
effectively deliver against the targeted outputs as defined by actions plans
formulated.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Facilitate project implementation
  • Assist in conducting market scans, and screening agribusiness/MSMEs
    for the projects priority crops.
  • Assist in conducting business assessments to determine the viability
    of proposed private sector partnerships and develop concept notes with
    detailed action plans.
  • Assist in the development and execution of results chains and
    measurement plan for project partnerships and follow up the impact.
  • Carry out regular field visits to project sites to provide hands-on
    technical assistance and mentor progress on the action plans for business
    partners.
  • Coordinate with Gender Specialist to ensure is youth and gender is
    mainstreamed into business strategies and partnerships.
  • Conduct high quality analysis and produce reports and other written
    outputs which are of an appropriate standard.
  • Liaison with project stakeholders to maintain good and harmonious
    working relations and achieve project objectives and contracted outputs in
    accordance with the project schedule and work plan.
  • Any other duties relevant to this job description as may be
    required.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The Business Innovation Specialist should be a graduate in Business
    Administration, Agribusiness, Economics or related fields. Post graduate
    is a plus;
  • At least five to seven years of private sector experience;
  • Experience on Market System Development (MSD) programmes
