development, human resources for health and quality and performance improvement
approaches.
initiative (TCI) – Tupange for Better Cities Project funded by Bill and Melinda
Gates Foundation is being implemented by Jhpiego. The program focuses on the
rapid expansion of urban family planning programs leveraging a matching
challenge fund to scale up urban family planning programs. The Program
Coordinator(s) ensure technical, programmatic and financial planning, execution
and monitoring of district/municipality program designs and TCI activities in
designated geographies of; Iganga-Busia, Buikwe-Mukono and Kampala-Wakiso
Districts.
- Build the capacity of the geographies to implement TCI high impact
interventions through TCl‘s technical coaching approach, including rolling
out TCI University tools within designated geographies - Support geography Program Implementation Teams (PiTs) to do
landscape, prepare, review, implement and modify geography program designs
and budgets - Facilitate, review and synthesize geography activity / monthly/
quarterly data and progress reports to identify lessons, challenges as
well as coaching needs. - Ensure quality and fidelity of implementation of TCI interventions
by PiTs /coaches including adaptation as appropriate to fit local context,
guidelines and annual plans - in consultation with Country Lead, coordinate and manage geography
trainers, coaches and an all-inclusive teams including mentoring /coaching
of these teams and routing coaching requests accordingly (Services &
Supply, Demand or Advocacy) - Support the monitoring and tracking of monthly deliverables and
verification of the same (as per Fixed Amount Award (FAN program designs)
including supporting financial tracking of TCI and geography commitments - Conduct and support advocacy and marketing of TCI model to
appropriate stakeholders within the geography and working with local
FP/TCI champions within budget cycles to ensure continued FP resource
commitment(s). - Support geographies to leverage and coordinate with other FP
stakeholders and implementers within the geography including supporting
wider diffusion of TCI model/interventions among local stakeholders - Foster intra and inter geography sharing of best practices and
rewarding of high performers in collaboration with PlTs - Represent TCI interests in the geography including participation in
local government Technical Working Groups - Support implementation oi monitoring, evaluation, research and
learning activities as per Tupange for Better Cities strategy. - Ensure timely submission of project progress reports, best practices
and most significant changes. - Work with country/ local TCI Officer(s) to effectively deploy AYSRH
interventions in participating geographies - Where positioned, supervise Field Officer/Assistant for respective
district/municipality
- The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health,
Social Sciences or related field. Postgraduate training is an advantage. - At least five years of relevant working experience in implementing
Reproductive Health/Family Planning programs - Experience working with Donor / private-sector funded programs,
Field orientation and experience in Reproductive Health / Family Planning
programming. - Proven experience working with MOH and government’s staff and
systems, particularly in area of Reproductive Health / Family Planning. - Demonstrated technical and programmatic understanding of national
RH/FP issues - Knowledge: (functional or technical; i.e. federal legislation,
finance, program planning, public healthcare standards, proposal writing,
human resources practices, etc.) - Good understanding of FP/RH and Health related issues, with a
district focus is necessary. - Experience working in a busy office within the private sector
especially with an international organization - Computer skills including demonstrated hands on-experience with MS
Word, MS Power Point, and MS Excel. - Proficiency in both written and spoken English.
