Diseases Institute (IDI) is an international non-profit organization which is a
partnership of infectious diseases and public health specialists. The overall
objective of the IDI is to strengthen health systems with strong emphasis on
Infectious Diseases, through Research and Capacity Development. IDI has five operational
areas through which it works to achieve its mission: Prevention, Care and
Treatment; Training, Research and Laboratory services (provided through a
partnership with the Makerere University – John Hopkins University Core Lab)
and Outreach.
Contracts) (AO (G&C)) will support the internal management of funded
projects by monitoring and reporting financial and programmatic performance,
will monitor financial activity and external reporting, and will certify
compliance to individual sponsor requirements. The AO (G&C) will be part of
the Strategic Planning & Development team at IDI.
- Assist in responding to the many ad hoc issues in post-contract
management - Provide support in the preparation of timely financial reports, as
required – ensuring excellence in reporting content and format - Provide support in tracking and reporting of financial performance
of grants - With IDI finance staff, extract information from financial management
system, as required; Customise reporting format and frequency to meet
individual project administrator’s needs - Assist in maintaining a consistent hard copy / electronic filing
structure and system for financial information and contracts related to
grants - Support the budget development process for new grants
- Support the Officer (G&C) in reviewing sub-grantee financial
documentation and reporting to ensure compliance. - Provide inputs relating to grants management for the IDI Key
Performance Indicators (including the analysis of the gap between
projected income and expenditure) - Support the development and implementation of Grants Management
training courses. - Provide technical assistance in Grants Management to other
organisations. - Any other duties specified by the IDI Officer (G&C).
- The applicant for the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) Assistant
Officer (Grants & Contracts) job must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a
relevant field such as Finance, Business Administration or Commerce; - A post graduate qualification is added advantage
- Previous experience in project planning and management.
- Some understanding of budget preparation processes
- Sound organizational skills including ability to track / monitor
multiple projects simultaneously - Good report writing and presentation skills; strong interpersonal
skills. - Strong computer skills in at least Word, PowerPoint, spreadsheets,
and database programmes
