Logistics Officer
Programme (WFP) is the United Nations frontline agency against world hunger. It
is the largest and longest serving humanitarian agency in Uganda. Currently WFP
focuses on three priority areas: Saving lives in Emergencies; Building
Resilience through Predictable Safety Nets; Improving Nutrition &
Mother-and Child Health; and Supporting Small Holder Farmers to Access Markets.
WFP has operations in various parts of the Country.
(Administration) will perform administrative support functions and report to
the Logistics Officer. At this level, work is carried out under minimal
supervision. He/She will be expected to produce organised and accurate work,
undertaking specific business support activities. He/She may offer guidance on
standard practices to more junior staff in in the office. The incumbent will
deliver standard business support processes of WFP operations in Tororo
Warehouse.
- Take overall responsibility for planning, budgeting and
requisitioning all warehouse requirements and utilities; - Serve as principle liaison between Tororo warehouse and the Tororo
field office on all matters relating to warehouse requests, petty cash
requirements and any other submissions; - Assume responsibility for monitoring and ensure proper maintenance
of all assets and equipment at Tororo warehouse, including computers, copy
machines and phones; - Take responsibility for timely preparation and submission of
accountability reports for all resources expensed to the warehouse; - Receive and follow up on all requests from the warehouse team to
ensure timely availability of resources for the smooth flow of warehouse
operations; - Act as the Human Resources Focal person to support staff comply to
established WFP Human Resources policies and guidelines; - Be responsible for the management of all outsourced service
providers and ensure that they deliver in accordance with the desired WFP
standards of work; - Perform other related duties as required.
- The ideal candidate for the United Nations UN World Food Programme
(WFP Business Support Assistant (Administration) job placement should hold
a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following areas: Logistics and
Transport, Supplies Management, General Administration, Business
Administration, Secretarial Studies, Development Studies, or related areas
from a recognised education institution. - A minimum of three (3) years of progressive professional experience
in administration, planning, cash management, reconciliation, vendor
relations, reporting, Office administration, Front Office Management or
related duties obtained in reputable organisations - Proficiency in both written and oral English
- Ability to use MS Office Applications
- Knowledge of specialised common business practices and methods,
gained through relevant technical training and experience. Ability to
develop and maintain relationships with a range of individuals in order to
provide a high quality support service. - Ability to carry out basic data analysis and independently rectify
problems requiring attention. - Ability to monitor and record financial transactions.
- Good communication skills required to give and receive information
and work with a variety of individuals. - Ability to maintain confidentiality
