for overall coordination in management, identification, mobilization and
registration of participants, coordination and conducting of Hygiene and
Sanitation trainings within the projects area of operation.
ensure that Good hygiene and sanitation practices exist within his/her area of
operation, coordinate the management of the Restore Project at field level
throughout the project’s area of operation; the coordination being both
technical and programmatic. He/she will lead, manage and train community
members in implementing the existing Public health activities while also
providing monitoring and evaluation tools to assess progress against agreed
objectives. He/she will also coordinate the identification of areas and
opportunities for development of new Water projects. He/she will be responsible
for regular reporting in regard to the Public health situation or other
information deemed necessary to the Project Manager, Restore Project and will
ensure effective coordination of project activities with the relevant
stakeholders. He/she will be based in the field operation area under the Yumbe
field office but should be willing to travel extensively and spend some nights
in the field. All applicants must agree with and uphold the values and
objectives of the organization to be considered for these positions. The Public
Health Educator will report directly to the Project Manager.
- Provide Professional representation of Samaritan’s Purse at meetings
with Government, community members and civil society partners. - Mobilize and sensitize the community on the program’s Values and
Roles - Identify and register Hygiene and Sanitation Promotion Groups
(HSPG’s) - Identify and register Water User Committees (WUC’s)
- Facilitate the selection and training of Hygiene and Sanitation
Promotion Groups (HSPG’s) - Facilitate the selection and training of WUC’s
- Mobilize communities for participation in project’s activities.
- Educate, demonstrate and facilitate the setting up of sanitation
facilities in homes within the project’s operation area. - Work collaboratively with other Restore staff in the implementation
of the project’s activities. - Ensure that the project facilities are in the rightful commissioning
state as far as sanitation and hygiene aspects are concerned - Report to the Program Manager on the progress of the project’s
activities
- The applicant for the Samaritan’s Purse Public Health Educator, WASH
Project job placement should hold a Degree in Social work, Social work and
community development, Development studies or related field. - At least three years of working experience in Community Development
Work. - Good working knowledge of PHAST and CLTS approaches, Community
mobilization and Sensitization skills, good understanding of Yumbe
sanitation and hygiene context. - Fluent in English, and local languages spoken in Yumbe district.
- Excellent communication skills.
