About US:
The Uganda Refinery
Holding Company (URHC) is a Private Limited Liability Company incorporated under
the Companies Act (2012). It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Uganda
National Oil Company (UNOC) Ltd. The purpose of the URHC is to hold, on behalf
of UNOC, interest in the refinery project planned to be developed in Kabaale,
Hoima District and its associated infrastructure. URHC has also been given the
mandate to develop, operationalize and manage the 29.57 km2 Kabaale petro-based
Industrial Park (KIP).

Job Summary: The Exploration Geophysicist will be
responsible for identifying and evaluating potential oil and gas deposits,
using geophysical techniques.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in geophysical data acquisition, processing and analysis
to generate hydrocarbon plays, prospects and leads. - Participate in evaluating and ranking the resources, risks and
uncertainties of the prospects to be drilled and suggest exploration and
development programs. - Assist in planning exploration wells.
- Interpret geoscience data and develop subsurface reservoir models to
determine structural geometry and define drilling targets. - Participate in the estimation and classification of the petroleum
resources/Reserves. - Evaluate Partners’ technical proposals and participate in meetings
with Partners and Authorities, when required. - Participate in the quality control, storage and management of
geophysical data that relate to exploration areas. - Participate in the preparation of applications for petroleum
exploration licenses, and
evaluation of geophysical work programs and other technical proposals. - Assist in the development of operational procedures for E&P
operations and in ensuring that all operations are conducted according to
approved procedures. - Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Master’s Degree in Petroleum Geophysics or Petroleum Geoscience or
any relevant degree. - Bachelor’s Degree (Hons)in Petroleum Geosciences or any relevant
degree. - At least five years of experience in petroleum E&P operations.
- Be skilled in integrated reservoir modelling. Have knowledge of
Exploration and development operations, Health & Safety standards and
operational procedures. - Hands-on experience in geological analysis and integration software
suites
