Deepening Uganda (FSDU) is an independent not-for-profit company committed to
promoting greater access to financial services in Uganda. FSDU seeks to develop
a more inclusive financial sector with a focus on low-income individuals
(particularly women) and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). FSDU is
funded by Department for International Development (DFID) UK aid and is part of
a network of nine financial inclusion organizations working in the Sub-Saharan
Africa.
design, plan and implement the strategies of Financial Sector Deepening Uganda
(FSDU’s) Access and Usage of the Financial Services pillar effectively and
efficiently, in alignment with the overall organisational strategy and policy
framework.
Partnership Development and Project Management
- Design, develop and nurture partnerships with private and public
sector players in the financial services space (Commercial banks,
FinTechs, mobile network operators, policy makers, regulators and industry
bodies) in alignment with FSDU and the country’s National Financial
Inclusion Strategy. - Develop a pipeline of interventions that can lead to increased
access and usage of financial services and products in the near and
long-term for individuals and micro, small and medium enterprises. - Develop and implement capacity development programmes directly or
through relevant collaborations for the partners to effectively transform
their innovative ideas into successful financial products that increase
speed of go-to-market. - Monitor and manage multiple projects, including the ability to flag
various risks early, put in place risk mitigation strategies and ensure
successful delivery of programs.

- Critically think through and lead research that informs the Access
and Usage pillar’s work around financial access and adoption – across the
financial sector but more importantly across underserved segments e.g.
women, youth and forcibly displaced people.
- Be able to translate research into insights that are relevant to the
financial industry
evaluation and Knowledge Management
- Establish appropriate monitoring and evaluation frameworks and carry
out timely and quality data collection and reporting. - Review performance of projects, clarify the lessons learned and feed
them into subsequent programme design as well as FSDU’s results
measurement frameworks. - Develop case-studies that showcase organizational learnings.
- Produce periodic writing outputs (blogs, Op-Eds, and similar outputs)
on issues that raise public and stakeholder awareness effective of the
organization’s work.
and Team Management
- Formulate a business plan for the team, and work with the
intervention managers on resource allocation. - Provide leadership and manage
the performance of the team by setting goals, providing timely
feedback and monitoring and appraising performance.
- The applicant must hold a Degree in accounting, finance, business or
a related field - Master’s degree in business administration in finance, accounting or a related field.
- At least eight years’ experience, 3 years of which should be in the
financial services space. - Should have managerial experience of at least 3 years.
- Knowledge and understanding of financial sector services, players,
technology and products. - Experience in product development
- Demonstrated business analytical skills.
- Experience in managing partner relationships.
- Experience in donor relationship management is an advantage.
- Excellent communications and presentation (writing, PowerPoint)
skills. - Team building and leadership skills
