About US:
The Uganda Refinery
Holding Company (URHC) is a Private Limited Liability Company incorporated
under the Companies Act (2012). It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Uganda
National Oil Company (UNOC) Ltd. The purpose of the URHC is to hold, on behalf
of UNOC, interest in the refinery project planned to be developed in Kabaale,
Hoima District and its associated infrastructure. URHC has also been given the
mandate to develop, operationalize and manage the 29.57 km2 Kabaale petro-based
Industrial Park (KIP).

Job Summary: The Head of Corporate Affairs will create and
sustain good relations with all stakeholders and handle any media related
matter, giving comments, opinions and explanations on all matters related to
UNOC. The holder shall develop and implement an efficient and effective
communication system for UNOC. He or she will also ensure that UNOC’s image and
brand are well protected.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Formulate and implement an integrated Company Communications
strategy. - Lead the development and implementation of stakeholder mapping and
stakeholder engagement strategy. - Lead all engagements with the media and respond to media queries
expeditiously. - He/she shall be a spokesperson of UNOC.
- Attend talk shows (radio & TV) and organise exhibitions and open
days to sensitise the public on UNOC activities. - Write pieces and opinions to be published in the media on Company
activities and mandate and prepare ready-to-use press releases to be
shared with the media. - Develop, implement and sustain the institutional brand.
- Generate content for upload on UNOC social media platforms.
- Organize press conferences, interviews and media tours.
- Provide leadership and guidance to other communication professionals
within the organization. - Ensure crisis communication plans are comprehensive and
appropriately coordinated with relevant technical departments. - Set up, maintain and develop processes necessary to support all
activities related to the area of protocol and regularly monitor progress
in order to maintain the integrity of the overall Company’s business
strategy. - Supervise, appraise and develop the staff in the division
- Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Master’s Degree in Communications, Public Affairs, Public Policy,
International Relations, or any other relevant degree. - Bachelor’s degree (hons) in Mass Communication, Law, Languages and
linguistics, Business or any other relevant discipline. - At least five (10) years of working experience in areas of strategic
communication and stakeholder engagements, public relations and media strategies
in a busy and reputable corporate entity, five of which should have been
at least at mid-level management roles. - Demonstrable track record of high performance and delivering results
- Proven leadership skills, including excellent people skills.
- Strong written and communication skills
- Commitment to high standards.
- Relevant experience in the Oil and Gas industry is an added
advantage.
