Job Summary: The Head Banking Operations performs,
strategic, administrative, financial management and business development and
support roles by organizing and supervising banking services and operations
related functions and activities. Interfaces with all key stake holders in the
financial sector, set and review policies, procedures and ensure compliance
with applicable laws and regulations. The incumbent works with substantial
independent authority involving the establishment and maintenance of banking
arrangements and services, and managing functions that have a extensive
countrywide network

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, oversee, manage and direct the banking operations of establish strategies, develop goals and
objectives, set priorities, monitor the service quality, participate in
budget development and administration, controls and make routine reports
to top management. - Design, develop and regularly review the banks operations policies
and procedures manuals and ensure there is a good balance between service
delivery and risk management. - Re engineer business processes to ensure improved operations,
customer service quality, cost effectiveness and tight controls through
effective documentation in form of user guides and process maps. - Establish and administer a wide variety of banking services,
investments, enforce effective liquidity management, reconciliations,
asset and Liability management, ensure diversification of revenue stream
and general institutional sustainability. - Oversee and administer banking plans, manage and coordinate the
maintenance and installation of financial information systems; coordinate
conversion and maintain contacts with vendors and system providers - Provides information to the top management and other executives,
department managers, manage and/or perform special projects; evaluate the
banking operations. - Participate in committees as required, be the contact person and key
lead in the Banking department, attend meetings, make presentations on the
departmental progress, lead, manage all staff resources, motivate, oversee
and carry out timely performance appraisals - Manage the bank’s key operational risk exposures by supporting the
business to identify/establish areas of risk exposure, monitor, review and
formulate action plans to minimize exposure to frauds and losses by
implementing appropriate corrective action - Performs any other or related duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Degree
- Minimum qualification is a degree in banking other related field
- A masters in business related discipline is an added advantage
- At least eight years of experience in banking operations in a
regulated financial institution like commercial bank or tier 2(credit
Institution) and at least 3 years as Head of Operations or operations
manager. - Good understanding of Micro finance operations.
- Knowledge of best practices in Microfinance and banking operations
management - Principles and practices of budget development and administration,
cash flow forecasting and management etc. - Financial analysis and credit analysis.
- Understanding of regulations governing financial sector
- Basic research/survey methods and report writing techniques;
- Project management.
- Relationship management, customer service and quality service
management - Culture change management and supervision of multiple delivery
outlets and channels
