About US:
Uganda Tourism Board
(UTB) is a statutory organization established by Uganda Tourism Board Statute
of 1994 and reconstituted in the Tourism Act 2008. Its objectives are:
  • To promote and contribute to the
    Development of Tourism sector both within and outside of Uganda.
  • To coordinate with the Ministry
    responsible for Tourism and the private sector in the implementation of
    the National Tourism policy.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Assisting in overseeing the development of strategies for promotion
    of investment in the sector;
  • Assisting in managing the procurement and disposal of the assets of
    UTB;
  • Assisting in representing the entity and guiding the Board on
    matters of law;
  • Managing the image and relationships between UTB, other entities and
    the public;
  • Assisting in guiding on financial performance and manage quality
    assurance services in systems of internal controls, risk management and
    governance processes;
  • Assisting in liaising with other entities including the Ministry
    responsible for Tourism on behalf of the Board.
  • Assisting in advising the Board on the provision of assistance to
    strengthen private entities in the tourism sector where necessary and
    appropriate.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Key Result Areas:
  • Development of regional and international networks for tourism.
  • Policy development, review and implementation.
  • Performance accountability through relevant reports.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • Applicants should be Ugandans in possession of a Master’s Degree in
    either Management; or Business Administration; or Tourism; or Marketing;
    or Law; or any other Course closely related to any of the above
    disciplines from a recognized University/Institution.
  • Applicants should have a minimum of eight (8) years relevant working
    experience, three (3) of which should have been served at a Managerial
    Level/Deputy Head of Department or equivalent level in a reputable
    Organization.
  • He/she should have proven experience in Tourism, Planning, Financial
    and Human Resource Management, Marketing, Public Relations and resource
    mobilization.
  • Excellent knowledge in Tourism; Policy Development and Analysis;
    Communication both oral and written; Planning and Budgeting;
  • Excellent Understanding of Auditing Techniques;
  • Resource Mobilization; Team Building; Coordinating and Networking at
    national and international level and Leadership
  • Supervisory Skills and Interpersonal Relations.
  • Age: 35 – 55 years
