Uganda through the Ministry of Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries has
received financing from the World Bank towards the cost of the Regional
Pastoral Livelihood Resilience Project (RPLRP), and intends to apply part of
the proceeds toward payments under the contracts for Construction of Livestock
Watering Infrastructure & Construction of Livestock Marketing and
Production infrastructure in Abim, Amudat, Amuria, Bukedea, Kaabong, Katakwi,
Kotido, Kumi, Kween, Moroto, Napak and Nakapiripirit.
will support the implementation of social and environmental safeguards of the
RPLRP at District levels.
- Check compliance with environmental,
social, gender and labor legislation as provided in the project briefs and
Certificate, and, World Bank safeguards policies; - Monitor implementation of environmental
and social mitigation measures of projects in the regions; - Assist local governments to build
capacity for environment and social risk management; - Liaise with the District Project
Coordinator, District Environment Officer, District Community Development
Officer or Focal Point on Grievances and Complaints Handling to respond to
all Environment and Social management matters/concerns raised by the
public within the District; - Serve as stakeholder’s liaison between
the project affected parties and MAAIF (RPLRP) and build a strong constructive
and responsive relationship for the successful implementation a of
socially and environmentally acceptable project interventions; and, - Perform any other relevant duties as may
be instructed by the Supervisor.
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s
degree in Environmental and/or Natural Resource Management, Natural or
Physical Science, Environmental Engineering, Social Sciences or
Developmental Studies from a recognized institution. - A minimum of two years of work
experience in both social and environmental issues regarding development
projects involving communities. - Analytical skills
- Reporting skills
- Communication skills
- Good morals and high level of integrity;
