Accessible health, Communication and Education (PACE) is the local branch of
Population Services International (PSI), one of the world’s leading non-profit
social marketing organization. We work to make it easier for people in the
developing world to be healthy by providing access to products and services
that range from mosquito nets to HIV testing.
International (PSI) Uganda will implement the Maternal and Newborn
(MaNe)-Kampala Slum Project in partnership with Kampala Capital City Authority
and Makerere University School of Public Health. The objectives of this project
are to:-
- Empower the urban poor pregnant mother to be able to recognize
illness and make timely decision to seek care for herself and her baby; - Ensure that the quality care she needs is accessible by harnessing
and collaborating with the widely available private providers and - Improve referral linkage between primary level facilities and the
referral hospitals so that poor mothers and newborns can get timely and
effective emergency care.
Coordinator will be responsible for implementation of SBCC Strategy and
interventions of the MaNe Kampala slum project. He/she will use the latest
models and innovations based on project learnings in SBCC to drive strategy and
deliver gains in product and drive uptake on Maternal and Newborn services in
project areas by the target audience
- Steer the development and execution of the overall SBCC strategic
strategy of the MaNe project. - Prepare and implement SBCC guidelines and standards that highlight
the strategic direction based on evidence shared by the evaluation &
learning team, policy makers and other stakeholders. - Develop, execute and track SBCC budgets for behavioral change
communication activities aimed at creating demand for the Maternal and
Newborn services. - Liaise with Project Franchise Coordinator, Quality Improvement
teams, KCCA and MakSPH to understand programmatic needs and expectations
to be accomplished through SBCC for the development of appropriate
strategies. - Document implementation processes and outcomes for all demand
generation interventions for the MaNe project and develop case studies for
publication and sharing best practices and success stories.
- The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social
humanities e.g. Social sciences, Social Works, Development studies,
Communication. - Three years of experience in development and implementation of SBCC
systems preferably in health. - Computer literacy in Microsoft office Suite and report writing
- Ability to engage communities in designing and implementing a
program with an opportunity for flexibility. - Ability to communicate effectively with good communication skills
- Analytical and result-oriented
- Customer focused with good interpersonal skills to engage with
people at all levels – government, donor and community. - Ability to work under pressure and with minimum supervision.
- Ability to be innovative and moving with current social trends.
