Conservation Network (NRCN) is an NGO mandated by Uganda Wildlife Authority
(UWA) to investigate and prosecute wildlife crime.
lead on the preparation of Expert reports for prosecutors and in engaging the
judiciary Uganda wildlife Authority and the Directorate of Public Prosecution
regarding wildlife conservation, trade and relevant laws. The Natural Resource
Valuation Manager will develop a set of natural resource valuation tools, and
lead on the preparation of Expert reports for prosecutors and in engaging the
judiciary Uganda wildlife Authority and the Directorate of Public Prosecution
regarding wildlife conservation, trade and relevant laws
- The Natural Resource valuation (NRV) Manager will undertake
assessments of all wildlife seizures recovered from the arrest operation
project in Uganda. - Develop and Review all project outputs including Reports, Resource
materials to be used as guidance in the natural resource valuation
exercise and a Natural Resource Valuation Sourcebook. - The consultant will ensure that the technical content of the
documents meet acceptable standards. - Provide technical advice in courts of law on the ecological and
economic value of wildlife products and that forfeited by wildlife
offences - Required to attend project review meetings or convene technical
consultations with regard to project activities - Advise on appropriateness of the process to be undertaken based on
international best practices. - Provide Mentorship and technical capacity support to UWA officials
on Natural Resource Valuation. - Prepare judicial guidelines, and disseminate guidelines
electronically and physically to prosecutors and judiciary through
face-to-face briefings - Adaptation of international experience in applying methods and
approaches in economic valuation of natural resources for implementation
in wildlife case prosecution - Development of learning materials and conduction of trainings based
on methods and approaches for natural resource valuation. - Develop a Manual highlighting the importance, uses and methods of
natural resource valuation
- The applicant must hold an advanced Degree in Natural resource
economics, environmental law, environmental economics or natural resources
management or equivalent. - At least five years of professional experience in natural resources
valuation and techniques, cost-benefit analyses, scenario development,
biodiversity conservation programming and demonstrated project management
experience; - Outstanding analytical and quantitative capabilities to measure
economic benefits of wildlife - Proven ability to dialogue amongst government agencies, the private
sector and civil society, and bridge differences between them by
explaining the value of wildlife in language all can understand - Excellent English writing Skills.
- Have leadership skills and high professional standing
- Experience in managing donor funded projects and NGO administration.
