WASH Program Manager
Non-Profit International Organization working in Uganda since 2008. Wells of
Life is dedicated to improving access to safely managed Water, Sanitation and
Hygiene services For All in the rural Districts of Mityana, Mubende and
Kassanda, Central Uganda. Since 2008, Wells of Life has funded the drilling of
over 380 deep boreholes in Uganda.
effective technical design, support, development and implementation of WASH
activities, while building local capacity to promote WASH in communities and
schools in Mubende, Mityana and Kassanda districts.
- Accurately assess WASH needs by collecting accurate, complete and
up-to-date data required for effective WASH implementation, management,
and MEAL in communities and schools. - Sensitize targeted communities and schools on their contribution and
responsibility towards water, sanitation and hygiene promotion. - Facilitate the formation and appropriate training of Water and
Sanitation Committees, - Hygiene Promoters, WASH club leaders, and Village Health Teams in
communities and schools. - Monitor WASH promotion activities and behaviour change in the
program area. - Compile WASH progress reports as stipulated in the Program
Monitoring Plan, and submit to the WASH Program Manager in a timely manner
Identify and train WASH beneficiaries for successful implementation of
WASH interventions. - Ensure participatory implementation of WASH activities to safeguard
participation of local community members and gender equity in
implementation and use of WASH facilities and services. - Work closely with Village Health Teams, Hygiene Promoters and Water
and Sanitation Committees to ensure that targeted WASH communities and
schools meet the set WASH criteria to identify model households and
pupils. - Ensure judicious management and use of WASH program finances,
supplies and assets. - Guide the WASH Program Manager during planning and budgeting to
effectively incorporate CLTS in WASH activities. - Ensure quality implementation of WASH activities in consonance with
WASH Budget and Work plan.
- The WASH Officer should preferably hold a university degree or its
equivalent in Water Engineering; Sanitary Engineering; Public Health;
Environmental Sanitation; Development Studies; and or other related
disciplines, with additional training in Health Education; Community
Development; and Communication. - A minimum of two years of relevant professional
experience. - MUST adhere to the core values of Wells of Life
- Knowledge of software is an added advantage
- Excellent command of local language of Mityana and Mubende Districts
is a MUST - Skills in community facilitation and mobilization at community level
are necessary. - Possession of cross-cultural warmth and ability to work with people
of varied cultures is necessary. - Technical knowledge of appropriate WASH technologies and models
(CLTS), communication for behavior change, Community-Based WASH programme
management is necessary. - Ability to work in a highly paced environment with complex deadlines
- MUST be a team player, independent, innovative, creative and collaborative
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Motorcycle riding skills is an added advantage
