approval of Green Jobs and Fair Labour Market Programme and further directive
on the Pilot of Songhai Model on a Government Land in December 2016. The
Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development has kick-started the
implementation of the Programme. The programme is aimed at creation of green
and decent employment, enhancement labour productivity, and reduction of
poverty reduction. The programme targets both educated and uneducated women and
youth. Overall, the programme contributes to reduction of the high levels of
unemployment among educated and uneducated through: –
- Promotion of workplace re-skilling and skilling for educated and
un-educated; - Promotion of resource efficiency and social safeguards at
workplaces; - Enhancement for the productivity of workers and enterprises
Green Jobs Programme Management Unit on the broad range of subjects covered by
international labour standards and International Lending Institutions on
Environment and Social Framework such as World Bank, African Development Bank.
- Perform comparative analyses of the legislation and practice of
employment laws and social safeguards standards. - Draft notes, reports and comments concerning the application of
Labour Laws Conventions, for consideration by the MGLSD and its partners. - Initiate research and studies on problems relating to labour
standards - Prepare summaries of judgements on national labour law cases.
- Take lead in the review and development of labour laws, standards
and code of conduct - Write correspondences and quality assurance of statutory
requirements and issue notices for compliance and enforcement - Ensure administration, implementation and monitoring of project
activities - Engage in capacity- and confidence-building with non-governmental
rule of law actors, including consultative and participatory processes
with national stakeholders, including skills development and employment
networks and legal professionals - Perform quality control function of project activities, including
assessing impact and effectiveness, tracking outputs and results, and
ensure timely and efficient delivery of project outputs through a
client-satisfaction approach - Assess the impact and effectiveness of the assistance through
regular consultations with national and international counterparts and
stakeholders, regular field visits, analysis and preparation of progress
and other required reports - Spearhead the development of grievance redress mechanism in handling
environment and social framework
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized
Institution. - A minimum of two years of experience in areas of labour and
employment law, human rights, GBV, environment or related discipline - Ability to work with stakeholders on multiple levels, including
government agencies, non-government organizations, donors, media groups,
religious groups and project staff. - Excellent English writing skills, written and spoken.
- Knowledge of the local languages of the implementation districts is
highly advantageous to this position. - Effective communication and interpersonal skills, team work, good
public relations, self-driven, problem solving and decision making
skills.
