Food for the Hungry
(FH) is a Christian international relief and development organization that has
been working in Uganda since 1989. FH’s primary goal is to respond to
development needs and complex humanitarian emergencies. FH is currently
operating programs in more than 26 countries and has national offices in the
UK, Canada, Switzerland, Korea, United States of America and Japan. In Uganda,
FH is operational in the communities of Pader, Kitgum, Lamwo, Agago, Kole,
Kween, Mbale, and Mukono Districts implementing programs in four main sectors
of Education; Food Security and livelihoods; Health/Nutrition and Disaster Risk
Reduction; with the Head office located it Kampala.
Job Summary:  The Construction Engineer will provide
technical oversight to Food for the Hungry Construction Projects. Ensure
successful implementation of all Construction infrastructures and initiatives.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Tasked with managing, designing, developing, creating and
    maintaining construction
  • Network, Partnership and Community Mobilization
  • Quality Assurance – Monitoring, Reporting and Documentation
  • Risk Management and Compliance

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant for the Construction Engineer job must hold a
    University Degree in Civil Engineering or related disciplines
  • Four years of previous experience in design and Construction work
    supervision with development agency.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, GPS mapping software is added
    advantage.
  • Good command of oral and written English is a must, local language
    skills are an asset. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to take initiative, a team leader able to work with minimum
    supervision
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity and emotional maturity
  • Motor Riding and/or Driving Skills is an advantage
