Job Summary:  The Communications and Public Relations
Manager role will focus on coordinating communication of results and
achievements to partners and donors. The Communications and Public Relations
Manager oversees the implementation of a communication strategy, documents,
tools to serve the needs of the various projects, working closely with the
Project Team through production of communication materials, grant acquisition,
advocacy and media campaigns in accordance with project reporting requirements.
The role among others will also support the coordination and hosting of media
related Briefs and visits.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Ensuring communication resources are planned, prioritized and
    resourced for effective donor and stakeholder engagements
  • Coordinate, plan and support national and international visits for
    Key staff
  • Guide management team on all aspects of NRCN Project communications
    efforts, ensuring the organization is taking advantage of key
    communications opportunities and speaking with one voice when communicating
    externally.
  • Compilation of communication materials and best practices that
    support growth of income and impact of NRCN work
  • Work in close collaboration with key project staff, develop and
    execute a communication strategy, which includes audience segmentation,
    key messages, and a robust monitoring and evaluation component
  • Work with key program staff to compile, write, and disseminate
    reports for the donor and other stakeholders. Coordinate the entire
    process of developing and completing these reports.
  • Work with field teams and partners to develop, awareness material
    (such as documentaries, posters, flyers and brochures) for awareness
    creation and education.
  • Coordinate the design, development and roll out of the campaign and
    project materials by working closely with service providers and the
    procurement team.
  • Take lead in the dissemination of the publications such as awareness
    material, policy statements and reports through utilizing meetings and
    events.
  • Advocacy and public event planning and management.
  • Manage the full production cycle for communications products (print,
    digital, and audio/visual), including copy editing, layout/ design,
    printing, and dissemination.
  • Build the technical capacity of staff and partners in order to carry
    out effective documentation and communication, as well as dissemination
    for advocacy campaigning and learning.
  • Participate in project assessments and design to ensure integration
    of documentation and communication as well as dissemination strategies
  • Compile quarterly reports and bi-annual magazines/newsletters
    highlighting the programme progress and share them with stakeholders and
    donors.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold an advanced degree  with preference in communications,
    community development, International Development Public relations or a
    related field
  • Three years’ experience in similar role, preferably with
    non-government organization
  • Skills in personal computing, email and general office productivity
    software (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, InDesign)
  • Experience with still photography, videography, and story writing
    style of communication
  • Understanding of wildlife aspects and ability to translate technical
    language into language that is easily understandable by donors
  • Excellent communication and public relations skills with strong
    English language capability (written and oral) and ability to clearly
    communicate complex ideas and principles
  • Experience hosting or working with donors or visitors highly
    preferred
