Diseases Institute (IDI) is an international non-profit organization which is a
partnership of infectious diseases and public health specialists. The overall
objective of the IDI is to strengthen health systems with strong emphasis on
Infectious Diseases, through Research and Capacity Development. IDI has five
operational areas through which it works to achieve its mission: Prevention,
Care and Treatment; Training, Research and Laboratory services (provided
through a partnership with the Makerere University – John Hopkins University
Core Lab) and Outreach.
will support HTC activities through linkage and Peer counselling of HIV
positive clients at the facility where they will be placed. Their major roles
include; health education, linkage of HIV positive clients to care, follows up
of clients and preparing monthly reports. They will be supported by the Lab
team and the HIV/TB focal persons at the facilities.
- Support facilities in strengthening HIV testing Services.
- Conducting HIV testing at different care entry points of the
facility. - Support formation of family Support Groups or Peer support groups
(adolescents and discordant couples). - Support health workers prepare for client visits.
- Support Linkage of HIV positive clients identified at all care
points including outreaches, TB care point, teenage centers, VCT/PICT to
receive HIV care. - Follow up of clients who miss visits by more than a week using
telephone or home visit if they live within your area of residence. We
also expect the volunteers to link up with the other community resources
to follow up clients e.g. through VHT or community based organizations
available. - Documentation and reporting of activities; we expect the volunteers
to provide a detailed report on what they have been able to achieve in all
the 5 areas stated above, provide innovations or challenges they have
faced during the reporting period by the 4th of the next month.
- The applicant for the Client Linkage and
Retention Facilitator job must hold an Ordinary level certificate. - Basic training in HIV/AIDS.
- Possess basic Peer Counseling skills.
- Fluent in English and local language.
