NURI (Northern Uganda Resilience Initiative) programme, which will be
implemented from 2019 to 2022. In Arua district, the intervention for Climate
Smart Agriculture (CSA) will be implemented by Arua District Farmers’
Association (ARUDIFA). The main target for the strategic agricultural
intervention is to make farming communities more resilient to climate change
and to increase the average value of agricultural production for participating
farmers. NURI in Arua district will support 890 farmer groups or app. 26,700
farmers inclusive of the refugees. NURI will build on the experiences from DAR
but with a stronger focus on climate smart agriculture and support to refugee
cause. NURI will be implemented in close cooperation with the District Local
Government as well as UNHCR and OPM where refugees apply.
responsible for supervising AEOs in selection, training and follow up of Farmer
Groups
- Supervise the selection of farmer groups and endorsement from sub
county chief - Allocate work to the Agricultural Extension Officers (AEOs) and lead
in planning monthly activities with clearly set targets - Supervise the work of the AEOs by going regularly to the field
- Review training reports from the AEOs
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual progress reports on
agricultural training - Ensure that AEOs properly keep all the necessary records e.g.
trainings, input distribution etc. - Review and collate all data collected by AEOs for completeness,
accuracy and reliability - Plan and participate in open
days - Plan and participate in
capacity building activities for organization staff - Initiate procurement that is related to the agricultural training
activities - Work closely with sub county authorities to ensure that they are
informed about the training activities. - Work closely with the district and sub-county production departments
to ensure that the Farmer Training is coordinated with similar
interventions. - Support the Coordinator in organizing quarterly monitoring by DEC
and LLG - Plan and participate in the weekly radio programs
- Advise management on staff performance and initiate disciplinary
action if necessary - Perform any other duties as assigned.
- The applicant must hold a university degree in Agriculture or Crop
Production from a reputable institution - At least three years of work experience in agricultural extension.
- Experience in supervision of extension staff will be an added
advantage - Technical skills in program planning and implementation.
- Fluency in English and a relevant local language.
- Basic computer skill i.e. MS Office.
- A valid motorcycle riding permit is a must.
