Concessions Monitoring Engineer (SCME)
Electrification Agency (REA) is the secretariat of the Rural Electrification
Board (REB) established by statutory instrument 2001 No. 75. REA is mandated to
implement Government’s rural electrification programs. The Government of Uganda
through REA is implementing a number of electricity connection projects with
financial support from development partners to meet national electricity access
targets.
coordinate, guide and support expansion and proper maintenance of networks in
the service territories while ensuring prudent utility practices in the service
territories and compliance to the lease assets by service providers.
- Support the Service Providers to carry out network expansion plans
in the Service Territories. - Carry out construction supervision and contract management of grid
intensification activities, collect, analyze, and manage/maintain an
updated database of schemes for grid intensification initiatives. - Review and analyze network performance tor system planning and
operation. - Ensure network availability and reliability at all times. Support
and supervise the implementation of network maintenance activities. - Participate in commissioning and coordinate receipt and handover of
completed distribution networks to the Service Providers. . - Plan and coordinate implementation of system improvement, upgrade
and automation activities/works. - Plan and support periodic monitoring of Service Territories. Assess
the performance of Service Providers in relation to leased assets and
recommend to management areas of support. - Perform any other duties as may be reasonably assigned.
- The applicant for the Concessions Monitoring Engineer job must hold
a BSc degree in electrical Engineering or its equivalent with a bias in
power systems. - At least four years of working experience, three of which are in
power systems and maintenance of electrical equipment. - Extensive knowledge of Planning, design, procurement and monitoring
of Electricity power systems projects. - Self-motivated and organized
- Ability to work quickly and under pressure.
- Understanding of engineering drawings and principles.
- Age: Below 30
years of age
