The Association for
Rehabilitation and Re-orientation of Women for Development (TERREWODE), a
national NGO headquartered in Soroti has tor the past 19 years dedicated
efforts to improving women’s sexual, reproductive health rights. We are an
active partner of the Ministry of Health in supporting treatment of women and
girls who suffer from the devastating condition of Obstetric Fistula and other
child birth injuries; and helping them to reintegrate in to society with
dignity. We broke the silence on myths surrounding fistula and have since then
implemented innovative strategies for increasing awareness and advocacy about
the condition, including its prevention
Job Summary:  The Senior Nursing Officer /Ward Matron will
be the primary technical person in charge of the day to day operations of all
clinical nursing staff. She will be responsible for planning, scheduling and
coordination of nursing activities within the hospital including: ward,
outpatients, inpatients, physiotherapy and theatre with commitment to clinical
excellence and continuous improvement in patients outcome.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
Nursing duties
  • Lead and provide technical guidance on all nursing activities
    provided at the hospital.
  • The incumbent will be responsible for scheduling and performing
    nursing services to patients of fistula and other child birth injuries.
  • Plan, assign nurses duties and supervise nursing services at
    TERREWODE Women‘s Community Hospital and other community nursing services.
  • Administer department polices in order to maintain complete medical
    records.
  • Check and maintain records of supplies at all times so as to place
    orders it required.
  • Administer treatment as prescribed by the doctor and ensure proper
    patient care while in the hospital.
  • Maintaining hygienic and safe working environment in compliance with
    the healthcare procedures.
