Job Summary:  The Senior Accountant supports the Principal
Accountant in exercising the accounting, control and reporting functions of the
organisation. It provides financial oversight of the client’s operations and
related transactions and ensures appropriate reporting and information is
provided in accordance with established internal guidelines and accounting
standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Provide support in verifying all project finances and accounting
    records in accordance with internal guidelines and requirements of other
    external stakeholder institutions.
  • Prepare reliable, comprehensive and timely financial
    reconciliations.
  • Prepare budget estimates and financial reports supervised by the
    Principal Accountant.
  • Verify organisation’s payments initiated by the Accountant
  • Reconcile all bank accounts to organisation’s records
  • Check the monthly payroll and reconciling it to administrative
    regulations and records, contracts and advances outstanding
  • Assist in ensuring that finance and administration regulations and
    procedures of the organisation are followed at all times
  • Prepare monthly, bi-annual and annual financial statements
  • Maintain the accounting system for operations in accordance with the
    Accounting Operations Manual,
  • Assist the Principal Accountant in negotiating with commercial banks
    terms of payment and other related transactions

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and
    Professional Qualification in Accounting such as ACCA, CPA, CA, CIMA.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a busy accounting/audit
    environment, of which the last two years must have been at middle level
    management;
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in various areas of accounting
    including payroll, receivables, payables, payment processing, imprest
    management, asset controls, budget preparation, financial controls,  applied knowledge of Uganda Accounting
    and Audit practices;  experience of
    using Accounting Software, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Platforms;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and Financial
    Modelling.
