the National Carrier of the Republic of Uganda based at Entebbe International
Airport. It is headquartered in Entebbe, Wakiso District, Uganda, and operates
from its hub in Entebbe International Airport.
the Revenue Accounting processes including Sales Accounting, Flight Revenue
Accounting, Interline Processing, Billing and Settlement Planning (BSP)
reconciliation, Refund and Miscellaneous Credit Orders (MCOs) processing, Fare
Audit, Travel Agency reconciliation, Revenue Control, and management as well as
monitoring performance of Business Process Outsourcing processing units (BPOs).
He/she reports to the Director – Finance.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness in Monthly revenue processing,
closing, Incentive / Agent Commission computations and GL schedules
delivery to the Financial Accounting team. - Ensure production of accurate monthly revenue figures, revenue
analyses and revenue profitability and report to management as required. - To interact with all levels of management on revenue reporting
requirements, as necessary. - Manage technology projects and other special projects for Passenger
and Cargo Revenue Accounting and other functions within Finance
department. - Ensure timely and accurate billing of the Interline carriers.
- Ensure timely and accurate billing of the corporate accounts.
- Evaluate and implement process improvements by outsourced processing units (BPOs), to
promote efficiency and productivity. - Ensure full optimization of the Passenger and Cargo Revenue
Accounting systems. - compliance with IATA Revenue Accounting rules, develop and comply
with the Companies Accounting Revenue Manual and comply with International
Financial Reporting standards (IFRS). - Conduct on-going reviews of Policy documents, International
Accounting Processes, IATA Standard Operating Procedures and BPO Service
Level Agreements and ensure that these are regularly updated accordingly. - Review and submit budget for costs relating to the Revenue
Accounting unit. - Conduct Revenue Audits and review findings and ensure that there are
no audit non-compliances in the accounting and processing of passenger,
cargo and miscellaneous revenue. - Set accurate targets for all teams, ensuring achievement of these
set targets. - Provide KPIs to staff at all levels.
- Perform monthly revenue related journal entries, including passenger
revenues, credit shells, barters, credit card revenue, gift cards,
vouchers, etc. - Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts, including monthly air
traffic liability and resolve any reconciling items on a timely basis.
- The ideal candidate for the Uganda Airlines Revenue Accountant job
placement must hold a professional accounting qualification CA, CPA,
ACCA, CIMA or equivalent. - Three years of work experience at senior management level.
- Knowledge of Airline Revenue Accounting processes and systems,
including strong interline billing / revenue accounting with knowledge of
month and year end processes. - Three years of revenue accounting experience in an airline
environment will be of added advantage. - Strong mentoring and coaching skills, including ability to train and
develop subordinate’s skills. - High level computer proficiency.
