have overall responsibility for the grants management function including budget
development and financial reporting.
responsible for developing the MakCHS grant management unit into a business
unit which will contribute to the sustainability of MakCHS.
- Identify funding opportunities nationally and internationally.
- Oversee the budget development process for grant proposals and
submission of grant applications. - Manage the negotiation, finalization and extension of : contracts
(and sub-contracts) with Mak CHS as either main or sub-contractor once an
award has been made. - Respond to ad-hoc issues in post contract management and support
MakCHs project managers in addressing any financial issues relating to
their projects. - Manage the tracking and reporting of financial performance of
grants. - Preparation of timely financial reports as required- i ensuring
excellence in reporting content and format; and check for regulatory
compliance. - Develop and maintain a consistent hard copy/electronic filing structure
and system for financial information and contracts related to grants. - Manage the Budget development process for new grants.
- Manage the reviewing of sub-grantee financial documentation and
reporting to ensure compliance - Present financial information relating to grants at meetings.
- Produce the Grants and Contracts register each quarter.
- Prepare financial projection relating to grants.
- Oversee the grants management and filing structures and systems.
- Manage the annual updates of the Grants Management Manual.
- Develop grants management as a Business unit.
- Development and implementation of MakCHS grants management training
courses. - Provide technical assistance in grants management to MakCHS’
partners and others. - Supervision of staff under his/her care.
- Perform any other duties as may be specified by the Principal,
MakCHS.
- The applicant must hold an MBA/MSc (Finance/Accounting), ACCA or CPA
(Uganda) and Honours Degree in B.Com/BBA/BSC (Finance/Accounting) - Substantial experience (minimum three years) in grants management,
relating to funding agencies, and reporting. - Significant experience in budget preparation processes.
- Experience in Project Planning and Management.
- Excellent organizational skills including ability to track and
monitor multiple projects simultaneously. - Good communication skills- both oral and written.
- High proficiency in the use of office computers and spreadsheets.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to motivate and manage a
team. - Knowledge and experience in health research ethics and grants
management is an added advantage
