The Association for
Rehabilitation and Re-orientation of Women for Development (TERREWODE), a
national NGO headquartered in Soroti has tor the past 19 years dedicated
efforts to improving women’s sexual, reproductive health rights. We are an
active partner of the Ministry of Health in supporting treatment of women and
girls who suffer from the devastating condition of Obstetric Fistula and other
child birth injuries; and helping them to reintegrate in to society with
dignity. We broke the silence on myths surrounding fistula and have since then
implemented innovative strategies for increasing awareness and advocacy about
the condition, including its prevention
Job Summary:  The Nursing Officer involves assessing fistula
patient health problems and needs. S/he will develop and implement nursing care
plans and maintain medical records, in addition to administering nursing care
to: ill, convalescent, disabled patients, s/he will advise on health
maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must be an enrolled / registered Nurse or Midwife from
    a recognized institution. Double trained nurse is an added advantage.
  • Two years’ experience in a hospital setting. Preferable
  • Theatre experience
  • Should have a formal and valid licensed to practice in Uganda
  • Training and experience in Obstetric fistula care.
  • Demonstrated supervision skills in a health facility
  • Training and experience in Counseling. Personal qualities:
  • Demonstrate empathy and compassion for the plight of women suffering
    from obstetric fistula and other childbirth injuries with commitment lo the
    restoration of their dignity.
  • Passionate on women issues
  • A commitment to clinical excellence.
  • A willingness to live and work in Soroti area
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ensure confidentiality, respect and care for patients.
  • Work well in a team environment and show respect to colleagues and
    subordinates.
  • Open and transparent communication style.
