About Project:
In consortium with
the Catholic Relief Services -United States Conference of Catholic Bishops
(CRS), Caritas Kotido Diocese and The Institute for international Cooperation
am Development (C&D) and five other technical partners, Caritas Moroto
Diocese is implementing a new five-year (October 2017 — September 2022)
Development Food Security Activities (DFSA) Programme entitled “Nuyok” meaning
“It is Ours.” Caritas Moroto Diocese will be working through government,
community and private-sector systems and structures in implementing the Nuyok
project in the Districts of Napak and Nakapiripirit.
Job Summary:  The Savings and Internal Lending Community Field
Agent is responsible for forming, training, mentoring and managing the SILC
groups
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Responsible for mobilizing community members to form SILC groups and
    start own savings and credit activity.
  • Design appropriate messages for sensitizing communities as per the
    SILC methodology.
  • Training SILC group members on SILC methodology, which includes
    internal savings and credit methods, group management, and the different
    roles of group members.
  • Guide SILC groups in developing group operational guidelines/rules
    for better management of the Internal Savings and Lending Communities
  • Encourage participatory decision making in the SILC groups
    strengthen ownership of SILC activities by group members and the general
    community
  • Closely monitor and supervise the saving and credit activities of
    the SILC group members
  • Collect and compile accurate data on weekly basis and report the
    performance of SILC groups and individual members to immediate SILC
    supervisor for immediate transmission to the SILC Officer.
  • Compile monthly Activity reports and submit such reports timely to
    the Agronomist for integration.
  • Participate in project Assessments/Surveys when called upon.
  • Identify and report on timely basis any challenges faced by the
    groups and their members to his/her SILC supervisor for immediate
    attention by the SILC Officer and/or by the Livelihood Programme Manager.
  • Work closely with other field staff of Caritas in ensuring the
    realization of Caritas Moroto development projects outputs.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold an A’ or ‘O’ Level Certificate, or with more
    than 2 years of community work, especially as group facilitators may be
    considered.
  • Proven ability to plan and coordinate field activities
  • Proven competency/experience in data collection and basic analysis
  • Possession of self-drive; able to work with minimal supervision
  • Good report writing skills
  • Fluency in Ngakarimojong and being a permanent resident of the
    village, Parish or Sub-county in which Nuyok project is being implemented.
