Job Summary: The
Psycho-social Worker will work in close collaboration with the other members of
the MHPSS team, he/she will participate to the implementation and development
of a qualitative, inclusive mental health and psychosocial support strategy of
intervention in the refugee camps of Omugo and Imvepi. This will be done
through direct support to beneficiaries along with technical support to the HI
teams and partners.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
Implementation of
MHPSS activities
  • To actively participate in identification of the mental health and
    psychosocial issues / needs and coping mechanisms;
  • To participate in identification of barriers to equal access to
    mental health services;
  • To be able to internally refer MHPSS-related cases for other
    services;
  • To participate to the design and the facilitation of training of
    HI’s and other organizations’ team on MHPSS activities and approaches,
    including Psychological First Aid, identification and referral of complex
    cases, etc.;
  • To identify and assess Persons with Specific Needs and individuals
    at risk of being victims of violence, especially persons in need of MHPSS
    services;
  • To facilitate with the psychologist MHPSS awareness raising
    activities and support the activities of information dissemination run by
    the protection team;
  • To support the protection team participating to the organization of
    community-based events and collaborating with local partners ;
  • To identify participants and facilitate psychosocial support group
    sessions, according to HI guidelines of MHPSS intervention in
    emergency/post emergency;
  • To participate in the technical MHPSS supervision meetings;
  • To propose review relevant adaptations to ongoing activities and
    tools to the line manager in order to cope with the challenges faced in
    the field and the MHPSS needs and issues of the beneficiaries;
Reporting
  • To document each activity implemented in the field instantly ;
  • To provide daily reporting on the activities implemented to the line
    manager;
  • To collaborate with surveys, assessments and monitoring reports
    conducted by the HI project manager and MEAL department
Participation to
Coordination and representation
  • To maintain a productive and positive relationship with HI partners
    in the field at local level, under the supervision of line manager;
  • To contribute to a strong and productive internal collaboration and
    coordination with the other sectors of intervention of HI mission to
    ensure the implementation of an integrated approach
Demonstration of an
ethics, safe, secure and professional practices
  • To show professional ethics, respect and promote HI  mandate and humanitarian principles at
    all times;
  • To respect beneficiary’s privacy and confidentiality (among others,
    he/she only share medical information with medical related staff/persons
    directly involved in beneficiary’s care and same for protection matters);
  • To demonstrate a non-judgment and respectful position;
  • To actively involve beneficiaries at all stages of the assessment
    and response;
  • To respect the HI protection of children policy, the protection of
    beneficiaries from sexual exploitation and abuse policy, the anti-fraud
    bribery and corruption policy and report to your line manager any
    non-respect of HI’s policies amongst the teams or partners;
  • To report any incident or act that causes any harm to beneficiary or
    to others;
  • To observe at all times strict commitment to HI Security &
    Safety regulations as per procedures in place at mission level

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicants for Psycho-social Worker must hold a humanity science
    degree with experience with strong psychological background (bachelor in
    community psychology, bachelor in counselling and guidance and other
    relating fields
  • Professional experience within an NGO, preferably in the field of
    vulnerability and/or disability and/or outreach community-based approach;
  • Experience in MHPSS Community-based approach is an asset;
  • Experience in MHPSS support groups is an asset;
  • Experience in protection is an asset;
  • Computer Skills: Familiar with MS Office (Word, Excel) and internet
  • Mandatory: Spoken
    and written English
  • Desirable:
    Proficiency local languages is an asset
