About Project:
In consortium with
the Catholic Relief Services -United States Conference of Catholic Bishops
(CRS), Caritas Kotido Diocese and The Institute for international Cooperation
am Development (C&D) and five other technical partners, Caritas Moroto
Diocese is implementing a new five-year (October 2017 — September 2022)
Development Food Security Activities (DFSA) Programme entitled “Nuyok” meaning
“It is Ours.” Caritas Moroto Diocese will be working through government,
community and private-sector systems and structures in implementing the Nuyok
project in the Districts of Napak and Nakapiripirit.
Job Summary:   The Literacy Trainers will be responsible for
training BOMA or SILC groups on basic Literacy
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Assist the groups in identification of their learning needs and
    document such needs for attention by the immediate supervisor
  • Scheme and plan for the Literacy Lessons on weekly basis and share
    such plans with his/her supervisor.
  • Participate in mobilization of group members to attend Literacy
    Classes
  • Support the groups in identification of suitable training venues,
    including in setting up such venues in a manner which facilitates
    learning.
  • Work closely with the Sub-County Community Development Officer and
    provide opportunity for CDO to visit and monitor group literacy classes
  • Manage expectations of the learners and report any challenges
    arising from learning by the groups.
  • Work closely with the SILC, Community and Graduation Supervisors in
    strengthening group dynamics and leadership
  • Provide continuous assessment of the level of learning and
    understanding by individual group members.
  • Regularly update the immediate supervisor on the progress of
    Literacy learning activities
  • Represent Caritas Moroto Diocese in the Sub-county where he or she
    is located, including as a representative for the organization in local
    development committees
  • Provide a comprehensive report on Literacy learning activities on
    monthly basis to the immediate supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a diploma in Education, community
    development, Development studies, Business Administration, ICT or any
    other relevant field.
  • At least two years of experience in community work in a busy
    organization is highly desirable.
  • Experience in Functional Adult Literacy training is an added
    advantage.
  • Demonstrable ability to plan and coordinate field activities
  • Possession of self-drive; able to work with minimal supervision
  • Good report writing skills
  • Fluency in Ngakarimojong and being a permanent resident of the
    District in which Nuyok Project is being implemented.
