Senior Tourism Development Officer

- Assisting in the collection, compilation and analysis of destination
tourism statistics and appraising policy makers on the performance in the
sector on the basis of systematic appraising of the performance criteria; - Assisting in the preparation of quarterly technical reports and
carrying out surveys of the tourism sector; - Assisting in the preparation of proposals to funding agencies for
projects to be undertaken by the Ministry; - Assisting in the maintenance of an inventory of approved tourism
projects, products, developments and businesses operating within the
tourism sector; - Conducting periodic research to determine the performance and
economic contribution of the various sectors operating within the tourism
industry; - Preparing technical reports on global and regional trends and
developments in the tourism sector; - Collaborating with Local, Regional and International Tourism
Organisations on issues related to Tourism; - Representing the Ministry in Meetings, working groups and Committees
at the National, Regional and International level; - Assisting in research and monitoring the impact of tourism project
activities, measuring and evaluating outcomes; - Assisting in development of tourism plans and policy development and
management in Uganda; - Assisting in the development of Community Tourism;
- Inspecting tour and travel companies prior to licensing for
compliance with requirements of tour operation business in the country; - Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
- Applicants should be Ugandans in possession of an Honours Bachelor’s
Degree in Tourism Management; or Economics; or Leisure and Hospitality
Management; or Tourism Quality Assurance; or any other related discipline
from a recognized University/Institution. - Competencies:

planning skills; time management skills; technical skills; report writing
skills; negotiation skills; capacity for teamwork; innovation and concern
for results, quality and standards. - Age: Above 21
