Diseases Institute (IDI) is an international non-profit organization which is a
partnership of infectious diseases and public health specialists. The overall
objective of the IDI is to strengthen health systems with strong emphasis on
Infectious Diseases, through Research and Capacity Development. IDI has five
operational areas through which it works to achieve its mission: Prevention,
Care and Treatment; Training, Research and Laboratory services (provided through
a partnership with the Makerere University – John Hopkins University Core Lab)
and Outreach.
patients presenting with acute febrile illness are identified, correctly
consented and enrolled in the study. S/he will be the first contact person for
all the study operations at the site.
- Implement the research protocol at the respective study sites
- Ensure that clinical research is conducted in the highest ethical
and academic standards as stipulated in the research protocol - Consent, enroll and follow up patients
- Administer study questionnaires to all enrolled research patients
- Carry out research-related investigations on study patients
- Follow-up research patients, review patient files and labs to ensure
completeness and continuity of care - Provide medical care for study participants and routine care for
patients - Refer patients for additional assessment as appropriate
- Participate in and conduct all relevant Continuous Medical Education
and trainings - Liaise with the hospital in relation to patient management
- Performs any other duties protocol as requested
- The Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) Laboratory
Assistant/Technician job placement must hold a Bachelor of Medicine
and Surgery - Full and up-to-date registration with the UMDPC
- Additional qualification: Training in Good Clinical Practice and
Human Subjects Protection - At least two years of experience working with a research project
- Working experience in urgent care and clinical case management
