Job Summary:  The Programme Assistant- Liaison and Policy
will provide general coordination and policy harmonization support for the
effective implementation of the BMM project in Uganda
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Support the NPO in liaising with, Government, local and
    international NGOs and other key stakeholders and provide support on
    policy harmonization and coordination on migration and related topics;
  • Provide support to the NCM Secretariat in organizing and
    coordinating meetings, training 
    including drafting meeting agendas, sending out invitations,
    facilitation of meetings as necessary, drafting summaries of coordination
    meetings, circulation of relevant materials and publications among partner
    agencies;
  • Liaise with the NCM Secretariat to identify capacity needs,
    programme opportunities based on Government priorities
  • Keep abreast of developments in the area of migration in Uganda and
    draft reports, various consultations and briefing notes on migration and
    related topics.
  • Contribute to overall IOM public information and communication
    activities by preparing regular updates on activities.
  • Participate in relevant meetings.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned.    . 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the International Organization for Migration
    IOM National Programme Officer -Migration Management job opportunity
    should hold a  High School Degree/
    Certificate with 5 years of relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree with
    three years of relevant experience in Political or Social Sciences,
    Business Administration, International Relations.
  • Five years (three years for Bachelor’s degree or higher) of relevant
    professional experience with counter trafficking projects; 
  • Professional experience in the development or implementation of
    counter trafficking or migration-related projects;
  • Solid understanding of trafficking in persons, labour migration, and
    related national/regional framework and regulations; 
  • Proficient in computer software: Microsoft Office (Outlook, Words,
    Excel and Internet Explorer).  In
    particular, strong command of Excel is required.
