Sports (NCS) is a statutory organisation that was established in 1964, to among
other things; Develop, Promote and Control all forms of sports in the country.
Job Summary:  The Senior Corporate
Affairs Officer will manage the public relations policies and strategies of the
Council and act as a link between the Council and other organizations with the
aim of projecting the image of the Council positively.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Prepare plans and budgets for the Corporate Affairs unit.
  • Project and promote the image of the Council to the general public
    and other organizations
  • Oversee the development of programs to be placed in the mass media
    that will reflect the contribution of NCS and its achievement in the
    promotion and development of sports
  • Oversee the preparation and production of information about NCS’S
    programs and activities through newsletters, bulletins, press releases and
    other publications.
  • Market NCS’s programs and activities through advertisements, radio
    and television talk shows, manuals, bulletins and conferences
  • Provide feedback to management on the opinion of the public about
    the Council
  • Oversee the formulation of the NCS communication strategy
  • Respond to public complains about NCS’s activities in accordance with the communication strategy.
  • Guide the General Secretary on the right course of action to take on
    major public complaints published in the mass media or in letters
    addressed to the General Secretary.
  • Appraise the performance of staff in the section and recommend appropriate action.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the General Secretary

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in mass communications,
    journalism, public relations or a related field from a recognized
    university or institution.
  • Possession of a post graduate diploma or a master’s degree in mass
    communications, journalism, public relations or a related field from a
    recognized university/institutions shall be an added advantage.
  • At least six years of experience in public relations and mass
    communications related duties in a reputable public or private
    organization, three of which at the level of a public relations/marketing
    officer.
  • Good communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Excellent computer skills.
