Maternal, New Born and Child Health Institute (MNCHI)

Born and Child Health Institute ( MNCHI ) which is established under Mbarara
University of Science and Technology (MUST) is set to provide
inter-disciplinary training, research and strengthened service delivery in
order to achieve safe motherhood and improve the health of children.
- Liaise and coordinate all MicroResearch (MR) studies undertaken by
MNCHI teams; Participate in data quality assurance practices, including
review of study reports; - Manage allocated MR study timeline and monitor all major stages of
the studies; - Oversee local and national IRB submissions and renewals;
- Coordinate financial releases, accountability and reporting;
- Report deviations from protocol and other ethical concerns to MNCHI
Director through Program Manager; - Provide quarterly, bio annual and annual reports on all MR studies;
- Update MR data base, publications and presentations by MNCHI teams;
- Mobilize and organize MR annual trainings and conferences when
applicable; - Actively participate in research grant writing;
- Take part in MNCHI Outreach component Activities;
- Carry out work in compliance with internationally recognized ethical
standards; - Other duties as assigned.
- The Research Administrator must hold a Bachelor’s (Hon) degree.
Qualification in a health-related field is a plus; - Leadership and management experience, particularly with research
studies and teams, as well as experience working in a medical environment
is a requirement; - Experience in coordinating research programs is highly desirable;
- Significant computer experience, including data management and
quality control, is required; - Previous work with IRBs, procurement, budgets, and financial
reporting is required; - Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with
minimal supervision is essential; - Written and spoken fluency in Runyankole is required; Knowledge of
research ethics is essential.
