Refugee Council (DRC)
Team Leader – Protection
Council (DRC) is a private, independent, humanitarian organization working on
all aspects of the refugee cause in more than 36 countries throughout the
world. The aim of DRC is to protect refugees and internally displaced persons
(IDPs) against persecution and to promote durable solutions to the problems of
forced migration, on the basis of humanitarian principles and human rights. DRC
works in accordance with the UN Conventions on Refugees and the Code of Conduct
for the ICRC and NGOs in Disaster Relief.
will manage the implementation and monitoring of the activities of the
community services sub sector in line with DRC Goal, and Values
- Actively contribute to the development of advocacy points based on
assessment of situation and risks related to PSNs & EVIs. - Work closely with the other programme components to maximize
programme output and impact - Assist in organizing and delivering protection trainings and
promoting the refugee laws on the rights of vulnerable persons. - Provide technical and programmatic leadership to community-based
mechanisms in Kyaka operational area as needed - Overs see the protection assessment and verification exercise for
PSNs and ongoing risks analysis to design adequate responses. - Promote and support Youth initiatives for their development
aspirations - Maintain close contacts with local authorities and RWCs in the
refugee settlement; provide capacity building, meetings to improve
community-based protection in the settlement. - Monitoring and guiding sector effective & timely implementations
and coordination of activities. - Support in budget monitoring for the community services sub sector.
- Develop work plans, budget proposals for the sector.
- Advocate for the refugee services/ support at inter-partner and
multisector level. - Support systems and operational procedures of home and out of home care
programs of PSNs, and Elderly. - Support innovative problem solving of strategy development to
address complex issues relating to self-reliance and wellbeing of the
community. - Writing sector reports (internal and external basing on donor
specification - Support the Protection and Community Service coordinator to monitor
financial commitments and expenditures against budgets and provide timely
feedback on budget follow ups. - Plan and coordinate proactively logistics and movements of staff
from and to different zones
- The ideal candidate for the Danish Refugee Council Protection
Officer – Community Services job placement should hold a University degree
in social sciences, guidance and counselling or relevant fields. - At least three (3) years’ experience working with vulnerable
communities, basic needs and protection programming experience, and/or
advocacy programs. - Solid skills in Assessments, supervisory skills, team player,
community Mobilization, and report writing - Good Proposal writing skills
- Training in Protection Community Services.
- Experience in protection interventions in line with Refugees
operation with PSN assistance. - Experience of working with UN or Non‐Governmental
organizations. - Proficiency in English (written and spoken) is essential.
- Good communication skills and ability to conduct training and
awareness - Computer skills in MS packages: Excel, Word, Outlook mail
- Good self-organization and basic management skills.
