Uganda Railways
Corporation (URC) is a body corporate established under an Act of Parliament to
construct, operate and maintain railway, marine and road services both inside
and outside Uganda for the carriage of passengers and goods. As a result of
privatisation of operations, the mandate of URC changed from that of an
operator to that of asset holder, concession monitor and advisor on railway
technical matters.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Put in place a system to effectively manage the section.
- Prepare Financial Statements under the supervision of the CFO
- Develop a system to see that the existing processes are simplified
and implemented in line with the URC accounting manual. - Systematically and effectively manage and monitor the performance
and Development of the staff in the section in line with Finance
Department and URC performance guidelines. - Effectively manage the section in line with the URC accounting
manual. - Monitor the reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts including
bank accounts, accounts payables and accounts receivables. - Prepare Annual Budget under supervision of CFO
- Review the chart of Accounts periodically and report to management.
- Monitor and update the fixed assets register from time to time.
- Respond to audit queries as they arise and prepare formal responses
on behalf of management for their review and approval. - Prepare Budget variance, cash flow forecasts and other Financial
Management reports monthly. - Review and Approve reports and payments as per finance manual.
- Develop and implement supervisees’ performance agreements in line
with departmental work plan and objectives. - Implement appropriate treasury management systems from time to time
