Rehabilitation Services in Uganda (for people with disability) was established
in 2006 as a private non-profit, non-governmental organization and is supported
by CBM (Christian Blind Mission). CoRSU Rehabilitation Hospital and
Rehabilitation Centre on Entebbe Road provides Orthopaedic Surgery, Plastic
Surgery and Rehabilitation, mainly for children with disability.
delivery of efficient community-based work services that enhance quality of
life for children with disabilities through Rehabilitation, Community awareness
and inclusion. The position holder ensures that Social Workers and CSFP support
patients to meet their un-met needs through application of their problem
solving skills. He/she oversees the promotion of a positive social change and
problem solving through the CBR, Social Work and child safeguarding. He/ she
ensures that the team provides CoRSU patients, attendants and or caregivers
with relevant information on the prevention of disability to promote a better
quality of life and social inclusion of people with disability in their
communities.
- The applicant must hold a University Degree in Disability Studies,
Community Based Rehabilitation, Social Work and Social Administration, and
Community Development Studies. A Masters or Post graduate training in
management and leadership of Social Rehabilitation, Advocacy, Disability
and Community Development programmes - At least five years’ experience in Disability and CBR, CS and
community development work at a senior management level Community
Volunteering skills - Good computer skills (MS Word, Excel and Power point)
- Knowledge of Disability and inclusion trends in Uganda, Community
structures and systems; dynamics, cultures and practices - Excellent Communication, Report Writing Presentation and Training
skills - Good counselling, coaching and mentoring skills
- Must be flexible and culturally sensitive
- High ethical and moral standards
- Team building and Networking skills
- Knowledge of NGO systems and operations in Uganda
- Knowledge of English, Luganda and other local languages
