August 2014, Sanitation Solutions Group (SSG) is a market-based sanitation
enterprise whose objective is to provide affordable sanitation products and
services to households and communities in Uganda. SSG’s initial focus was on
three sanitation business models – pre-fabricated concrete latrine
construction, latrine upgrading and business support to entrepreneurs in both
latrine emptying and construction. SSG has now refined its operations and our
current specialization is emptying on-site sanitation facilities including pit
latrines and septic tanks under our Fresh Pit brand.
Job Summary:  The Sales Officer will handle prospective
customers, explain our service, and guide clients through the order process. We
are seeking a candidate who is persuasive, energetic, and ready to go the extra
mile to ensure customer on boarding and satisfaction. The successful candidate
should be detail-oriented, results-driven and effective at working with clients
from different backgrounds.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Facilitate and initiate conversations with prospective leads
  • Schedule appointments and follow up on leads and current customers
  • Answer all lead and customer questions accurately
  • Understand company pricing structures when negotiating with clients
    and offer most competitive prices
  • Inform leads and customers of current promotions and discounts
  • Maintain positive business and customer relationships in the effort
    to extend customer lifetime value
  • Develop strategies for more effective sales, both individually and
    as part of the sales team
  • Source and work to attain customer referrals
  • Track all sales appointments, customer complaints status reports
    thoroughly for management review
  • Meet and/or exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets
  • Ensure that there is a high conversion of customer leads to sales
  • Self-improve continuously by way oi experience and manager feedback

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree, relevant experience in
    delivering sales targets in the informal sector
  • Ability to identify and innovate new sales strategies to grow
    company sales and customer base impeccable customer service skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and
    verbal
  • Sales-driven, results-driven, and target-driven
  • Aptitude for persuasion and negotiation
  • Proven track record in sales environment
  • Ability to meet and/or exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets
  • Ability to effectively interface with clients and individuals at all
    levels and backgrounds in the organization
  • Utmost professional behavior and integrity that enhances
    productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation
  • Organized with the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple
    tasks simultaneously while working under pressure
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point)
