Uganda Cancer Institute Act of 2016, the UCI is an autonomous body, with the
mandate to, among others, undertake and coordinate the management of cancer and
cancer-related diseases in Uganda. It is critical to the evolution of a
National Centre of Excellence, providing specialized treatment and care for all
types of cancer using all the available subspecialty expertise possible, as
well as engineering oncology-centered research and training.
- Actively participate in carrying out Laboratory investigations,
interpret results and submit reports to the clinicians - Prepare reagents and ensure that similar preparations by junior
staff are in keeping with established procedures - Liaise with ward management in the preparation of patients for
laboratory tests - To care for and service laboratory equipment and maintain an
inventory - Participate in primary healthcare activities and research
- Compiling and submitting periodic reports
- Carrying out any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
- The applicant for the Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI) Laboratory
Technician (Histo Technician) job must be a Ugandan holding a Diploma in
medical laboratory or its equivalent from a recognized institution. - Must be registered with the Allied Health Professionals Council
